Landscaping a site with poor drainage can be a difficult challenge. Excessive moisture in the soil displaces oxygen and plant roots can suffocate. Even though standing water may not be present, poor drainage can cause reduced growth and survival. There are plants however that can tolerate having their roots submerged for long periods of time.
